Basics of Welding for Beginner's
Have you ever thought about welding? Welding equipment has become safer, cheaper and more user
friendly than ever before. This class will introduce
you to the types of welding available to anyone with household
electricity. John Barber will discuss safety, types of
equipment, where to get it and how much to spend. If you have an
interest in making metal artwork, patio furniture, auto
restorations or basic repair and fence work, this class will put
you on the road to accomplishing your goals. The improved and ever-expanding Houston

About John Barber
John Barber has been actively involved in welding
and metal working for over 40 years.
He is an artist, designer, fabricator, and teacher.
John has worked on dinosaur skeletons, natural history dioramas,
locomotive restoration, home and barn construction, metal sculptures,
and fabrication work for hospitals, all including metal and welding.
For the past decade, John has pursued wildlife
artwork making fish and other marine wildlife from steel sheet metal for
art galleries, private collectors, and art festivals all along the gulf

Answers to Common Questions This section is dedicated to answering the questions that the teachers are mostly commonly asked. I've never welded before. Is that a problem? Not at all. In fact, you're likely to be the ideal student. Mr. Barber provides a hands-on instruction and simple explanations for every facet of his class. Beginners are welcomed. What should I wear to the welding class? Please wear long pants (jeans are ideal), a long sleeve shirt that buttons at the collar and sleeve and closed toe shoes (preferably leather shoes). Should I purchase welding equipment before the class is held? No, Mr. Barber will provide the goggles, helmet and gloves. How long is the class? Every welding class is 5 hours in length. Are there any circumstances where a person cannot attend the class? Anyone wearing a pacemaker (or pregnant at the time of the class) cannot attend Mr. Barber's class. Additionally, minors (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult who must take the class as well. |
